***UPDATE - MORE VIDEOS ADDED, SCROLL TO END OF POST***
***UPDATE*** - Police reports confirm what other eye witnesses said. Meyer was out of control and needed to be arrested. Rushing the mic out of turn. Not asking a question, but ranting on and on as if it were his speaking event. The event director asked that his mic be cut and that he be removed. He became violent when the officers attempted to calmly remove him. End of story. (Unless you check out the part about how he calmed down once the cameras weren’t on him bolstering the suspicions some had, that he was staging the entire thing)***
By now it would be shocking if you hadn’t heard about the antics of University of Florida’s Andrew “Don’t taze me bro” Meyer, and the fiasco that ensued when campus cops attempted to remove him from a speaking event, at which Massachusetts U.S. Senator John Kerry was the guest.
At this point, it’s difficult to say who was in the wrong (seems to be both police officers and the goofy kid), and just how wrong each party was (was the taser necessary?). Either way, HotAir nails it:
As usual with these things, everyone involved comes off badly.
I won’t drone on about “who started it”, because this blog is for watching hilarious videos… but for what it’s worth, the original video cuts out what led to what we’ve all seen, however the police should have been able to restrain and escort Meyer out much more successfully and professionally.
Now, on with the show! Below is the original video most of us are seeing all over television:
Are the cops really trying to silence him, simply because he’s a nut trying to accuse Kerry of being part of some conspiracy because he was a member of “Skull and Bones”? It would seem like it, but if you’ll notice, the video starts with some anxious looking cops right behind him. Clearly we missed something before the clip starts.
Michelle Malkin has kept a running post since this whole thing began, and offers two eyewitness accounts from people who were there and saw the events that lead up to the scuffle. The basic gist is that question time was almost over and the Andrew Meyer rushed up to a mic, out of turn, and complained about not getting a chance. Cops moved in to grab and remove him (not knowing of his intentions when he rushed the mic), when Kerry (not wanting a scene) said to let him stay and ask his question, when the previous one was finished.
Before I move on to show you the other angles, and related videos, it should be noted that John Kerry claims to have been unaware of the tazing until after the event, bro. However, this seems odd, as you hear him, as monotone as ever, droning on throughout the video. Additionally, two officers involved are on paid leave, pending the results of an investigation.
In a moment, I’ll show you what happened after Meyer was removed, but here’s another video, from a much closer perspective, of the same event seen above:
Again, the beginning is suspiciously missing… At any rate, you realize that he’s either got a couple screws loose or possibly under the influence of who knows what. By the way, is he meaning to imply that Kerry didn’t contest the election because Kerry is part of the Illuminati with Bush? Is that what the “skull and bones” nonsense was all about?
Moving along, in the next video you’ll (eventually) see our Bro being taken in to a lobby while police officers attempt to calm him down. He doesn’t. He then demands his possessions as he’s escorted down stairs towards the exit, and drops some hilarious one liners:
“There are people who know I’m here. You can’t.. you can’t… like, kill me.”
“Oh my god they’re giving me to the government! They’re giving me to the government. (repeats)”
After an officers requests Meyer’s name, he says:
“I don’t want to give you that, I’m afraid.”
Then Bro begs other people to come to the police station to find him and:
“Ask them where I am, because they’re going to try and kill me.”
This next clip (sorry no embed) shows much what the previous clip did (from another angle), but has a few more seconds at the end. As the cops lead him out, he’s begging for people to come follow them because he’s afraid they’re going to kill him. (h/t HotAir, again)
I’m not going to get in to how stupid it would be for him to actually believe that they were going to kill him, considering every insane 9/11 conspiracy theorist protests out in the open without fear of anything. Now, some have been arrested for not having permits, etc. But they’ve never been taken a way and killed. Either this kid is insane, on drugs, or as some are starting to wonder, staging a publicity stunt.
Again, I’m not a political or “free speech” blogger, so I’m not going to ramble on long about who’s right and wrong here (though it should be noted that UF has every right to remove anyone they want). And while at first it seemed the “trying to incite a riot” excuse for arresting him didn’t wash, you have to consider the fact that they tried to peacefully escort him out (not arrest him) and he flipped out and flailed around, then screamed for help, etc. He was essentially fighting the cops off and encouraging others to do the same. I still think they looked like Barney Fifes out there, but in the end, it looks like the kid was in the wrong.
I will update this post with other videos related to the incident as I find them. In the meantime, Bros, if you’re interested in “serious” conversation on the event (rather than these hilarious videos, check these out:
The Huffington Post, ABC News, more Huffington Post, Dan Riehl, Stop the ACLU, Ace of Spades, Flopping Aces, RWN, The Democrat Daily, RightVoices, baldilocks, Sister Toldjah, Macsmind, The Jawa Report, Mahablog, Outside the Beltway.
*BONUS* - Andrew “Don’t Tase Me bro!” Meyer is indeed a 9/11 Truther conspiracy nut. Screw Loose Change has the details. Not sure how that fits with him taunting Ken Griffey Jr. and later bragging about it (among other things). Was Griffey in on 9/11 too!? Hahaha. Seriously though, it’s been uncovered that he’s a professional agitator, and that he changed his attitude once in the cop cruiser. But a nutty conspiracy theorist he remains.
Now the only question left is, who will make the first “Leave him alone!” spoof?
***UPDATE - Another misleading video, from yet another angle that doesn’t show what lead up to the incident. Big surprise huh? These people have been successful at dishonestly smearing the police through the media so far, why start being honest now?***
The really disgusting part about this, especially in light of the FACT that we now know the cops acted appropriately, is that this spoiled little turd and all of his other elitist classmates who scream “police brutality”, are being protected by these officers that they’re so quick to smear. It’s men and women like this that allow them to live comfortably and safely in their priveleged little lives.
***UPDATE - MC Hammer weighs in***
***UPDATE - More “Don’t Tase Me Bro!” Remixes****
AllahPundit at HotAir dug up 2 more. I still like the MC Hammer version best, but of the 2 new ones I’d have to say I choose this one:

> I’m not going to get in to how stupid it would be for
> him to actually believe that they were going to kill him
This is never “stupid”. Not in dictatorships like the US and A. If one gets arrested for asking questions, what can we say about a country that represents freedom of speech and brutalizes its citizens for exercising that “freedom”?
Everyone needs to get a t-shirt to show their support!
Don’t TASE me, Bro!
First of all, “US and A”? What are you, Borat? Secondly, the problem is, he wasn’t arrested for asking questions. He was arrested for rushing a mic, out of turn, disrupting the event, refusing to just ask a question and end it (he was just giving a nutty conspiracy theorist speech), he was asked nicely to leave repeatedly and the cops eventually tried to lead him out when the mic was finally cut. HE caused the chaos by flailing around screaming “help!”, etc. Then, the cops were trying to arrest him (not originally), and he continued to resist.
But the bottom line is, there is not basis for concern that he is going to be “killed”. Even if the authorities had been wrong here (which is the simpleton’s observation, by only watching the original edited video and making their decision entirely on it), it still wouldn’t make us a “dictatorship”. Anyone who says that is as insane or whacked out on drugs as this kid, or some anti-American European.
And FYI, “freedom” has nothing to do with a university’s duty to protect it’s students or giving nut jobs a chance to ruin an event for everyone else.
Also, as we know, this kid is a professional prankster. We also know that he brought and gave someone a camera to film what he had planned on happening. And we know that he told the cops in the car, on the way to the station, that they did nothing wrong. And they didn’t.
Let me guess, he said this after being tortured?
I am the real inventor of you tube which was intercepted by the nsa. After which I was Targeted as a Terrorist to silence me. Though Andrew Meyer has apparently staged this affair, it brings into critical view the escalating hosility against free speach and how comfortable Security Officers are getting with inflicting pain and violence.
Mr. Meyer is to be applauded for shining the bright light of reality through ingeniously capturing this escalating crisis.
Not wholly coincident that PRESIDENT BUSH now insists on making permanent the same Surveillance Laws that were use to intimidate my family.
We have now been in hiding for two years because of threats against our lives.
Reality brought to light my Mr. Meyer’s Staged Event. I hope we hear much more from Mr. Meyer as he has done a great service for the public good.
Don’t Tase Me Bro…
Unfortunately, we understand all too well what is going on.
Sincerely,
jimmy james
I really hope you’re joking jimmy james, because that is the stupidest pile of crap I’ve ever heard in my life.
And FYI, I’m about to post an update (to this post), showing just how proper it was to arrest this kid. Long story short, he rushed a mic out of turn after Q&A was over. HE ranted and raved (didn’t just “ask a question” with the intention of hearing an answer. And PSST - it was a Kerry speaking event, NOT A MEYER SPEAKING EVENT).
The cops repeatedly asked him to sit/settle down. Soon he became combative. The director of the event (not police, not scary Illuminati President Bush) had the microphone cut off, and then asked the police to remove him. When they tried to calmly, he flipped out and flailed around, causing the potential for injury to those around him.
Meyer grew increasingly violent and attempted to start a riot, by begging for people to help save him from the police. He later screamed that they were going to give him to the government and kill him, etc.
Anyway, all you “free speech” whiners are basing your opinions on your biases that you came to view the video with, and the fact that you’re not acknowledging what happened before the most popular clip.
“Free speech” whiners? You and Kim Jong-il must get together some time.
So, “he wasn’t arrested for asking questions. He was arrested for rushing a mic, out of turn, disrupting the event, refusing to just ask a question and end it (he was just giving a nutty conspiracy theorist speech)”?
That’s alright then. Sleep tight folks. But before I go, a bedtime tale,
There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always — do not forget this, Winston — always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever.
Wow, Owain, could you be a bit more of a drama queen. I’m not even going to waste my time mocking you, you’re doing a good enough job of it yourself, by choosing to ignore the facts of this case, and use one of the funniest bits of YouTube comedy as if it’s some sort of wake-up call to recruit more conspiracy theorists to your cause. You’re pathetic.
Yeah, Owain. Admin is fucking A right. He hit the nail right on the head. Democrats are blubbering drama queens, and Andrew Meyer is a PERFECT example. You wannabe Civil Rights activists are all the same. Meyer wasn’t trying to free Tibet, he was making a ruckus and acting a fool, trying to get his left-winged agenda across. He’s just a liberal student who probably jerks off to Michael Moore videos. BTW, Clinton wasn’t impeached solely over a blow job. He was impeached for perjury, among ten other documented bad things he did. Get your facts straight, Meyer.
I forgot all about this guy until i seen this post on your blog, but i always laugh when I see this video. This made my day. Thanks!
