VIDEO: NYC Councilman James Oddo Goes Nuts

Warning: If you’re offended by the “F word”, don’t watch these videos or read this post.

Since I’ve been away for a bit, I imagine you may have already seen New York City Councilman James Oddo losing his cool on a “reporter” from Norwegian comedy show Rikets røst (rough translation, “Voice of the Nation”). “Voice of the Nation” bills itself as a Norwegian version of The Daily Show, and “reporter” Pia Haraldsen plays a “dumb blond”, who asks inappropriate questions, leaving marks to react in unpredictable ways.

As I said, you may have already seen this latest viral vid, but if you hadn’t, or if you just want to see follow-up videos, as the real story unfolded, I’d like to make this a sort of “Get the fuck out of my office!” mega-post.

On with the show, here’s the clip that lead to a week of mainstream media follow-up coverage:

This next video doesn’t come in the form of a YouTube clip, but a link from HotAir.com to a local NBC affiliate who interviewed Oddo, regarding his explanation for his having gone nuclear on that “news crew”. He’s sorry (mainly to his mom) about the language.

And not to be outdone, Norway’s own Pia Haraldsen hit back in this interview on Fox & Friends. Okay, she doesn’t really “hit back”, she essentially just looked hot and got a big plug for her show, but watch anyway:

The next clip is from a radio interview Oddo did, still reacting to the prank, in which he blows the lid off the whole thing! He claims that the original clip is heavily edited down, and his anger built over 15 minutes of idiotic questions, before he blew his lid:

This clip seems to confirm Councilman Oddo’s claims, at least to some extent. It’s not the full 15 minutes, but it certainly is longer than the popular clip that’s been making the rounds:

Here Oddo explains how he was duped:

Evidently he found it odd that a TV station in Norway would want to interview a NYC councilman on United States presidential politics. They eventually convinced him that it was just to get a Republican’s perspective. The whole thing was odd, but he didn’t really flip out until the reporter asked a question about Barack Obama being “African-American”, and thus not American, and ineligible to run, followed by some comment about Hillary Clinton and a cigar.

Oddo felt the Obama question was an accusation of racism, in that it implied Obama being black might prevent him from running. Also, the cigar comment was likely a reference to President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

Now get the f*ck out of my blog! Wait, NO! Stay, I was just kidding!

VIDEO: Ahmadinejad at Columbia University

***SCROLL FOR UPDATES***

While PublicSpeecher.com is normally a humorous video blog, I suspect a lot of you will be searching the web for video of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking today at Columbia University, while in town to attend meetings at the United Nations in New York.

I’m not going to steal all of the video snagged by HotAir’s AllahPundit, or anyone else for that matter, so I’ll just give you one below and then link you to multiple posts where you can find other videos. Below you can watch President Ahmadinejad of Iran deny the existence of gay people in his country, in arguably the funniest clip of the bunch:

Now I’ll provide you with a few links to other videos of Ahmadinejad’s performance, and leave the political discussions to others (i.e. how disgraceful it is that these uninformed idiotic college kids repeatedly cheered for this clown, and how many people seem to take him at his word about any number of things, or the fact that people don’t recognize how this event will play in the Middle East, especially when in Iran in particular it will be heavily edited)

Here’s HotAir’s original post about the nonexistence of gays in Ahmadinejad’s Iran. (With a link to photos of people being executed, simply because they were a little light in their loafers sandals)

This is the clip everyone has been talking about - President Bolinger’s intro/attack on Ahmadinejad. It’s decent, but it’s important to remember that it’s also a ruse. Bollinger was taking a lot of heat for his decision and need to save some face, especially as concerns for donations continue to creep up. Either way, Ahmadinjad never responded in any meaningful or honest way to any of the charges or to any of the questions asked at the end, and you can bet the Iranian people will never see those parts. Oh, and you can also vomit while watching these idiot kids cheering for Ahmadinejad.

Here you can watch Former UN Ambassador John Bolton explain why inviting this POS to speak at Columbia was such a bad idea.

Ahmadinejad also spoke to the National Press Club. If HotAir, or anyone else posts video of that, I’ll try to update this post later.

***UPDATE*** - More on the students who cheered for Ahmadinejad, via LGF.

***UPDATE*** - If anyone missed it yesterday, University Dean John Coatsworth said he would have invited Hitler to speak. Webloggin has the video.

***UPDATES***
Michelle Malkin highlights and mocks the pathetic MSM blog coverage of Ahmadinejad’s visit, while HotAir continues the discussion over left-wing Bollinger stupidly inviting the Iranian president to speak, and then attacking him to cover his ass when the backlash became evident (especially in terms of donations).

VIDEOS: “Don’t tase me bro!” - Andrew Meyer

(TIP: For those who just want to watch the videos, I’ve embedded 3, and linked to another. So scroll down and skip my pontificating if you’re simply here for the vids)

***UPDATE - MORE VIDEOS ADDED, SCROLL TO END OF POST***

***UPDATE*** - Police reports confirm what other eye witnesses said. Meyer was out of control and needed to be arrested. Rushing the mic out of turn. Not asking a question, but ranting on and on as if it were his speaking event. The event director asked that his mic be cut and that he be removed. He became violent when the officers attempted to calmly remove him. End of story. (Unless you check out the part about how he calmed down once the cameras weren’t on him bolstering the suspicions some had, that he was staging the entire thing)***

By now it would be shocking if you hadn’t heard about the antics of University of Florida’s Andrew “Don’t taze me bro” Meyer, and the fiasco that ensued when campus cops attempted to remove him from a speaking event, at which Massachusetts U.S. Senator John Kerry was the guest.

At this point, it’s difficult to say who was in the wrong (seems to be both police officers and the goofy kid), and just how wrong each party was (was the taser necessary?). Either way, HotAir nails it:

As usual with these things, everyone involved comes off badly.

I won’t drone on about “who started it”, because this blog is for watching hilarious videos… but for what it’s worth, the original video cuts out what led to what we’ve all seen, however the police should have been able to restrain and escort Meyer out much more successfully and professionally.

Now, on with the show! Below is the original video most of us are seeing all over television:

Are the cops really trying to silence him, simply because he’s a nut trying to accuse Kerry of being part of some conspiracy because he was a member of “Skull and Bones”? It would seem like it, but if you’ll notice, the video starts with some anxious looking cops right behind him. Clearly we missed something before the clip starts.

Michelle Malkin has kept a running post since this whole thing began, and offers two eyewitness accounts from people who were there and saw the events that lead up to the scuffle. The basic gist is that question time was almost over and the Andrew Meyer rushed up to a mic, out of turn, and complained about not getting a chance. Cops moved in to grab and remove him (not knowing of his intentions when he rushed the mic), when Kerry (not wanting a scene) said to let him stay and ask his question, when the previous one was finished.

Before I move on to show you the other angles, and related videos, it should be noted that John Kerry claims to have been unaware of the tazing until after the event, bro. However, this seems odd, as you hear him, as monotone as ever, droning on throughout the video. Additionally, two officers involved are on paid leave, pending the results of an investigation.

In a moment, I’ll show you what happened after Meyer was removed, but here’s another video, from a much closer perspective, of the same event seen above:

Again, the beginning is suspiciously missing… At any rate, you realize that he’s either got a couple screws loose or possibly under the influence of who knows what. By the way, is he meaning to imply that Kerry didn’t contest the election because Kerry is part of the Illuminati with Bush? Is that what the “skull and bones” nonsense was all about?

Moving along, in the next video you’ll (eventually) see our Bro being taken in to a lobby while police officers attempt to calm him down. He doesn’t. He then demands his possessions as he’s escorted down stairs towards the exit, and drops some hilarious one liners:

“There are people who know I’m here. You can’t.. you can’t… like, kill me.”

“Oh my god they’re giving me to the government! They’re giving me to the government. (repeats)”

After an officers requests Meyer’s name, he says:

“I don’t want to give you that, I’m afraid.”

Then Bro begs other people to come to the police station to find him and:

“Ask them where I am, because they’re going to try and kill me.”

This next clip (sorry no embed) shows much what the previous clip did (from another angle), but has a few more seconds at the end. As the cops lead him out, he’s begging for people to come follow them because he’s afraid they’re going to kill him. (h/t HotAir, again)

I’m not going to get in to how stupid it would be for him to actually believe that they were going to kill him, considering every insane 9/11 conspiracy theorist protests out in the open without fear of anything. Now, some have been arrested for not having permits, etc. But they’ve never been taken a way and killed. Either this kid is insane, on drugs, or as some are starting to wonder, staging a publicity stunt.

Again, I’m not a political or “free speech” blogger, so I’m not going to ramble on long about who’s right and wrong here (though it should be noted that UF has every right to remove anyone they want). And while at first it seemed the “trying to incite a riot” excuse for arresting him didn’t wash, you have to consider the fact that they tried to peacefully escort him out (not arrest him) and he flipped out and flailed around, then screamed for help, etc. He was essentially fighting the cops off and encouraging others to do the same. I still think they looked like Barney Fifes out there, but in the end, it looks like the kid was in the wrong.

I will update this post with other videos related to the incident as I find them. In the meantime, Bros, if you’re interested in “serious” conversation on the event (rather than these hilarious videos, check these out:

The Huffington Post, ABC News, more Huffington Post, Dan Riehl, Stop the ACLU, Ace of Spades, Flopping Aces, RWN, The Democrat Daily, RightVoices, baldilocks, Sister Toldjah, Macsmind, The Jawa Report, Mahablog, Outside the Beltway.

*BONUS* - Andrew “Don’t Tase Me bro!” Meyer is indeed a 9/11 Truther conspiracy nut. Screw Loose Change has the details. Not sure how that fits with him taunting Ken Griffey Jr. and later bragging about it (among other things). Was Griffey in on 9/11 too!? Hahaha. Seriously though, it’s been uncovered that he’s a professional agitator, and that he changed his attitude once in the cop cruiser. But a nutty conspiracy theorist he remains.

Now the only question left is, who will make the first “Leave him alone!” spoof?

***UPDATE - Another misleading video, from yet another angle that doesn’t show what lead up to the incident. Big surprise huh? These people have been successful at dishonestly smearing the police through the media so far, why start being honest now?***

The really disgusting part about this, especially in light of the FACT that we now know the cops acted appropriately, is that this spoiled little turd and all of his other elitist classmates who scream “police brutality”, are being protected by these officers that they’re so quick to smear. It’s men and women like this that allow them to live comfortably and safely in their priveleged little lives.

***UPDATE - MC Hammer weighs in***

***UPDATE - More “Don’t Tase Me Bro!” Remixes****
AllahPundit at HotAir dug up 2 more. I still like the MC Hammer version best, but of the 2 new ones I’d have to say I choose this one:
